One Piece Cards Worth Money: Alt Arts, Manga Rares & More

Which One Piece Card Game cards are worth money? Manga rares, alternate arts, SEC, SP and treasure cards, leaders, promos and how to price English vs Japanese.

By Ayoub Farid · · 2 min read

The One Piece Card Game launched in Japan in 2022 and in English shortly after, and it quickly became one of the best-selling TCGs. Its chase cards are some of the most expensive modern cards in any game. Here's what to look for.

Manga rares

The top chase cards in many sets: characters drawn over black-and-white manga panel backgrounds. Popular characters' manga rares (Luffy, Zoro, Shanks, Nami, Yamato and others) lead the market.

Alternate arts (parallels)

Alternate versions of cards with special artwork and foil, sharing the regular card's code. Alt arts of popular characters, especially Leaders and SECs, are often worth many times the regular card.

Secret rares (SEC)

The highest standard rarity in a booster set. SEC cards of popular characters, and their alt arts, are prime chase cards.

SP cards and treasure rares

SP cards are special versions of cards from earlier sets inserted into newer boosters. Later sets added Treasure Rares and other special inserts. These are scarce and in demand.

Leaders and promos

  • Leader alt arts are popular
  • Tournament and event promos with limited distribution
  • Special DON!! cards with character art can be collectible

English vs Japanese

Prices for the two languages differ, and either can be higher depending on the card. Japanese sets release first, so collectors often know which cards will be chased in English before release. See One Piece card scanner.

What drives value

  1. Character popularity: Luffy and the Straw Hat crew, Shanks, Ace, Yamato and fan favorites
  2. Rarity and art version: manga rare > alt art > regular
  3. Competitive play: Leaders and key cards in top decks
  4. Condition: textured foils show scratches easily

Prices after release

One Piece prices tend to swing hardest in the first weeks after a set releases, when supply is low and demand is high. Many cards settle lower once more boxes are opened, while the most popular manga rares and alt arts often hold up better. Watching a card's price history before buying or selling helps you avoid buying at the peak. See why card prices go up and down.
